Nice size and weight for liquids, not the best for smoothies. If you want them for smoothies use the larger width size STAINLESS STEEL STRAWS Fat Wide 10"XXL x 3/8"R. Since they are stainless steel they may have a bit of a metalic taste at first but just as you do with stainless steel water bottles rinse with a bit of vinegar and that problem will be solved.

I bought these straws as a gift for my boyfriend. He has an aversion to plastic and this was a great idea to help him enjoy milkshakes and frozen Starbucks drinks (without spilling them on himself). The only complaint I have is that the hole in the straws are a little on the small side, so drinking thicker items can be difficult at times. They came wrapped clumsily in newspaper, which I found a little off-putting, but that might be a bit of the snob in me. Overall, a decent purchase.

Bought the straws for use as swizzle sticks. Had a small party at our house with 8 people. The straws were great for the swizzle stick idea & my guests found them amusingly fascinating. However, I noticed that when my guests that had them in their drinks would put the straw to their mouth, it was being done ever so gingerly due to not wanting to clink the straw against a tooth. Kind of amusing to watch. Next time despite the novelty of the steel straw, I may place a sign next to the straw holder saying "May chip teeth if used in a slapdash manner, use at your own risk". Should make for another good laugh. Overall, no buyers remose. If anything made for a great conversation piece.

Pretty much just what I was looking for in a straw.For medical reasons, I have to drink everything through a straw, and most plastic straws a) are too small in diameter and b) are not very durable.Shipping on these was superb (although I live on the West Coast, so shipping was 2 business days from Washington state, their point of origin).The only problem with these is that they're very heavy and there's no purchase for your teeth, so it's difficult to keep the straw in your mouth unless you have very strong lips.I solved that problem by inserting heavy-gauge plastic tubing in the stainless straw so that my teeth have something to bite on.
