Acu-Rite Wireless BBQ Thermometer with Remote Pager Review

I bought this wireless thermometer for my husband who's been asking for one for a long time. It works great and he loves it except for one thing: the remote pager does not display the temperature but only the time. It would be a real plus to see the temperature on the remote so he has an idea of its progress as he's doing other things around the house/yard. The device itself is sturdy and strong. The kick stand works well and the magnet is very strong. On the back of the device are temperature settings for most types of meat and poultry except fish. We still have our old probe thermometer which had the same including fish so we didn't have to look it up. But it seems strange that it had temps for everything except fish. I did a lot of research before I bought this one and it seemed to be the best and of course the best price was on Amazon, a source I can trust. Other similar devices did not allow you to set the temperature on the main device but only alerted when the meat you selected was done so you couldn't choose your own temperature. We like to set our temperature for 5 degrees lower than what is recommended because after you take the meat off the heat it continues to cook and this prevents overcooking. That is one of the main reasons why I bought this one. We are so glad we have it especially my grill master husband.

Weber Style 6438 Professional-Grade Barbecue Beeper Digital Thermometer Review

This is not for someone who wants to measure temperatures in the grill itself.It works only by setting the meat and "wellness" of the meat i.e. beef, rare.It holds up in temps up to 400 deg., but you cant monitor temps above 199 Deg. since the settin alarms go off and it stops reading above that.In addition, I used it properly by sticking it in a tri-tip.It went off after 5 minutes and said the internal temp was 140 deg.It was not even close to that.I cooked my meat for about another 10 minutes before it was the rare I wanted.It did do a good job on some salmon I cooked on cedar planks, but the planks blocked most the heat which I think sets it off early.I cant believe this thing has a four star rating. If you are serious about BBQ, avoid this.

Purchased item from another website, but Amazon shipping and customer service is always great so have no fear buying from Amazon.
Thermometer unit has kitchen timer and temp sensing. Temp probe helped me deliver the best BBQ chicken I have ever grilled, perfectly cooked. Cooked NY steak the next night, perfect medium.
Pager unit works well everywhere in my house and yard (~5500 sq feet lot).
Love this thing and will be buying another for family!
